I recently had the opportunity to take a Tudor Fastrider Black Shield on a California road trip from San Jose to Pacific Grove and had a chance to reflect on the already great style of this watch and the aftermarket customization options available.
Today, creating your unique style most often is the preoccupation of the 20 to 30 somethings. As I gracefully move into my 60’s, I’ve found the joy of stylized solutions are not limited to the young.
Enter the striking, albeit “stealth-like” looking Tudor Chronograph, Black Shield. Its high tech ceramic monoblock sculpt with its matte and sandblasted finishing off set with brilliant red gasket, indexes, hands and logo housing the iconic ETA 7753 movement with the red date at the 5 o’clock and 46 hour power reserve.
Not satisfied with anything off the shelf, I added to the Tudor Fastrider Black Shield’s already dramatic look with a custom hand crafted, racing inspired leather strap with vivid red contrasting stitching by Leatherworks.
To me, with keys to my new MX-5 Miata in hand, it’s a perfect tribute to the young at heart.
